To be honest I didn’t even realise it was World Mental Health Day today but I came home from work to see all of my social media newsfeeds bursting with people talking about either mental health in general or their own struggles. And I just felt like I had to have my little say too!
In my experience mental health can hit anyone and everyone at any time. I would be very surprised to hear that someone is able to go through life without some kind of mental health issue at some point in their life even if they don’t realise it at the time. This being so there is still such a big stigma to someone having mental health issues. I love the fact that on a day like today so many celebrities and people that others look up to are sharing their stories because it helps raise awareness and makes people realise they are not alone Believe me mental health struggles are lonely journey!!
Even though I have mainly made it through my rough patch of depression and anxiety some days I still suffer and want to self combust into a ball of flames as my foggy depressed head tries to return and the worry fills me with dread. Personally without my mental health struggles during university I wouldn’t have even started blogging and I would be a very different person today. I have found that blogging has helped me sort out my cloudy head and get me back on track. I hope people read my posts and find them useful because I know that I have found reading others posts has made me feel so much more normal and less alone. And lets be honest blogging is now one of my favourite things to do. You can find a few of my mental health blog posts here so you can take a look at my personal journey…
- Anxiety & Depression…
- Depression Stigmas…
- Anxiety & Depression 2…
- Home Sick…
- Self Belief…
- This time last year…
- Anxiety & Depression 3… (Plus a few more if you take a scroll through my posts)
That’s all I have to say on the matter today I am just so glad days like today are around as I raises so much awareness!!
Thanks for reading

Wow, I missed mental health day. I’m very mad at myself for not knowing that.
I read your piece and had to start following you based on the same reasons… “Breaking The Stigma” that surrounds mental health.
I enjoyed this piece and very happy to come across your blog site.
