Social media is everywhere we go! Every company, shop or brother and sister are connected to some kind of social media from snapchat, facebook or tumblr. As a 20 year old myself I am part of at least 5 kinds of social media sites that I can think of off the top of my head that I check regularly and to be honest its driving me mad!
I have recently stopped myself from looking at social media so much as I have found it puts me in a bad mood! Now I am not slating social media sites because they are great for example showing my family around the country or world what I am up too whilst at uni, but I find that I get a little obsessed with them at times! As you sit there you see everyone you know having a great time on holiday as they post amazing beach pics or marking amazing achievements that they are so proud of and it genuinely makes me feel like crap! (which is kind of bad as I should be happy for them)! I guess its that feeling of missing out! FOMO I believe its called (Fear Of Missing Out). You can see when your friends interact or do something without you and if it wasn’t for that social media post you would be non the wiser. I find that I don’t actually post that often on these sites but I still become obsessed with constantly checking what is going on in the social world! I find this happens if I have nothing planned in a day I just constantly sit there scrolling aimlessly then five mins later I am back scrolling again at things I have just looked at! Scrolling Instagram, scrolling twitter, facebook, snapchat repeat! Repeat! It’s addictive.
Another thing that annoys me is when you are with friends, colleagues or family say at a pub or restaurant and all they do is sit their scrolling through social media (Umm Hello?? I’m here!!!). Saying that I have done that in the past, I am guilty! very guilty!
I hope that’s given you food for thought and I have explained it well enough??? and hopefully I’m not the only one who hates the obsessive pull of social media??
